The Republika Srpska Institute of Statistics publishes the second, revised edition of the publication "Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics - European Statistics Code of Practice" which provides a translation of these most important frameworks for the production of high-quality official statistics.
The United Nations Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics list 10 fundamental principles, the application of which in official statistical systems ensures the production of relevant and reliable data that comply with professional and scientific standards.
The European Statistics Code of Practice is the basis of the common framework of the European Statistical System. This self-regulatory instrument, adopted by the European Statistical System Committee, is based on sixteen principles covering the institutional environment, statistical processes and statistical results. It is intended to ensure a high level of quality of statistical products and services of national statistical institutions, both of the European Statistical System and of the statistical institutions of candidate and potential candidate countries for membership of the European Union.
This revised edition of the European Statistics Code of Practice, first adopted in 2005, reflects changes and innovations in the development, production and dissemination of official statistics in the European Statistical System and beyond, such as the emergence of new data sources, the use of new technologies, the modernization of the legal framework, and the results of a peer reviews of the implementation of the Code of Practice.
